StreetStrider Reviews – Summit 8r
These StreetStrider reviews are for the Summit 8r, our most popular model. The Summit 8r features the Shimano Nexus 8-speed transmission, and with the twist grip shifter, you can easily select the most comfortable gear wherever you stride. You can even climb the steepest hills. The 90 mm dual front drum brakes and rear caliper brake provide exceptional stopping power. The frame is constructed with aircraft grade aluminum and is incredibly strong, supporting riders up to 400 pounds.
I have had my strider for a year now and absolutely love it. I am however, having a hard time keeping the tires aired up. My strider has never left the road and does not have any holes in the tires. I will probably have to take it in to have the tubes replaced. All in all I love this machine. I really enjoyed riding my bike but after neck surgery the bike became more of a pain than pleasure because of the way you have to lean over to ride. However this has taken the place of my bike and it my new favorite piece of equipment. My only regret.....not purchasing it sooner. :)
fun stuff
cant help loveing this thing r8 i mean cannot stay away..i am old 79 to be truthful .It help to get beter sleep beter blance but just plain fun hard to stop LARRY MYERS
It's a Wonderful World on a Bike
I picked up my 8r today from the bike shop (got the White Glove Service and the bike rack made for it), drove straight home and tried it out. I watched the video from the website and did it exactly as described. It was great! At first, I was looking down too close and was a bit wobbly, but once I looked ahead at the horizon I got my sea legs. (Spouse was a bit tense, thinking I might fall...I have a plate & 7 screws in my left ankle after a bike wreck on my Trek in 2007; had not ridden since until today...) I'm 58 and really in need of a cardio makeover; I can tell the Street Strider is going to do it for me. Will be showing it off to my friends this week!! Regarding quality of materials, the bike shop owner told me the materials are the highest quality and the bike itself extremely well made. No hesitation about recommending this beautiful bike to anyone. I think you would be happiest with the White Glove assembly.
Great Workout Machine comes Standard with Scenic Views
Several reviews of the StreetStrider without actual hands-on time and instead based solely on cost or lack of an option for sitting have prompted me to write this review.
Is the StreetStrider expensive? Yes, no doubt. I had to think long and hard before purchasing it, but when I saw StreetStrider was running a 25% discount, I took the plunge. Is the Summit 8-speed, essentially an "elliptical machine on wheels", worth the $1500 expenditure. Unequivocally, I would say yes.
Assembly - I chose to assemble it myself, which went relatively smoothly and easily. There are videos on StreetStrider.com that will show you various parts of the assembly process. Installing the shifter cable into the hub seemed a little daunting. I guess you can say I'm from the school of "if all else fails, read the instructions." I finally watched the video and saw it was a piece of cake. I would say that if you are at least somewhat mechanically inclined, you will do as well as a bike shop would in putting it together, if not better, with the added bonus that you will learn a fair amount about the Strider and how it operates in the process. It took me approximately 2 hours to get the whole thing set up. I did run into a problem installing the rack, that being that I could not remove a mounting screw from the frame because it was so tight and appeared to be damaged----I'm working with StreetStrider to get this resolved (I will update this posting along the way).
Ease of riding - If you ride a bike, you should be able to "acclimate" yourself to the Strider in your first ride. I was out for 40 minutes my first time. The leg and arm motions come easily and naturally. It feels a bit strange not to have handlebars you can turn, but by the 3rd outing I started to feel comfortable with the carving and leaning motions which steer the Strider in the direction you want to go. I agree with Strider's representation that turns are roughly equivalent to the turning ratios of a bike.
Exercise - This is a strong suit of the Strider. I've been out a total of 6 times now over the past 11 days. I am expending 1,000 calories in 80 minutes, covering 16 miles and getting a maximum speed of 16 miles per hour. If my routes did not involve as many curves and slow downs, I can see that 1,000 calories an hour, as touted by StreetStrider, is quite feasible. Used properly, you will be exerting from the core and not the back. I can tell when I'm relying on my back because I will invariably hit the frame with my knees, which gives me a wake up call about my incorrect posture. Setting the wake-up call aside, I'd like to see a slightly different design whereby you don't run the risk of hitting your kneecaps.
Fun factor - The standing position is great for visibility and taking the sights in, although, just like on a bike, you don't want to become distracted because you can lose control. The carving motion is reminiscent of skiing, which adds some pleasure and whimsy to the experience. This beats a stationary elliptical machine hands down, both in terms of exertion and fun.
Build - Solid build. Quality components. Parts fit together well. Works and moves fluidly. See my comment above about a problem with installing the bike rack.
Oh, and about the seat. If you want a seat, stick with a bicycle. It's that simple. I still ride mine several times each week. The StreetStrider is not a bicycle. It's not meant to be. Not designing a seat into it was not an inadvertent or cost-savings omission. Can you go long distances without having to sit down? Absolutely. Will I use the Strider to commute? Probably not. My bike will definitely work better for that in terms of flexibility, comfort and compactness.
Wonderful invention
I love this machine! It took a couple of rides for me to feel 100% comfortable, but I absolutely love it!
New Best time on my 8r
Love my Summit 8r..Scored a new best workout time on my 8r today. Distance - 8.4 miles, Time - 41m 34s,Speed - 12.13mph ...The time includes a short break to suck down a bottled water while I checked the mail at the post office. That said my riding speed is even faster. =)
Summit 8r
Come February 2013 I will have owned my Summit 8r for 2 years. I purchased my 8r after having a gastric bypass and loosing over 200 pounds but was starting to gain weight back again. As of today I have clocked almost 3000 miles. I started out with buying an 8r w/ indoor stand for me and a 3r for my wife. Do to medical reasons things didn’t work out for the wife so I sold her 3r. I also bought a Jet for my daughter but she was only 4 at the time and is still working to be able to ride it on her own but I am sure she will as she grows more. I also recently found and bought a like new used 8r as a back up unit and for when friends and family want to go for a strider ride with me. In my opinion the 8r is the best and funniest exercise machine anyone could ever own. Currently I am 6ft tall and 290 pounds who wears size 44/30 paints and 2XTL shirts. I am not what most would consider when thinking of fitness person but I took 1st place back in Aug/Sept 2011 at my work in the fitness challenge. During those 2 months I clocked 987 miles. After winning I took some time off striding but I currently ride my strider little over 115 miles a month and love it more and more each day. I recently received a message thru my face book account from an old classmate who said she saw me striding and had been reading my Street strider post who was inspired to order one for herself. Now that’s a cool feeling!
I love my new StreetStrider!
Only had it a couple of days now, but loving it! I can't ride a bicycle comfortably because it bothers my back. I missed the joy of riding a bike. Every time I was in the gym on an elliptical trainer, I'd think, if only I could do this outside. Well now I can! It's wonderful!!
Revolutionary
Combining the well known benefits of elliptical exercise & working out in the great outdoors may make the Street Strider the most significant development in personal fitness of our generation. Our 8R arrived July 12 of this year & has been in daily use since then with total mileage of over 500 so far with no problems that could be attributed to the materials or workmanship of the manufacturer. The only problem to date was a failed shifter cable due to my having installed it with the hub end against the chain. It has numerous advantages over a conventional bicycle; no seat to make you sore & transmit road impacts directly into the bottom of your spine, no bar between you legs to impede mounting & dismounting, it doesn’t fall over when you stop, your hands don’t fall asleep, if it gets away from you, you naturally step the few inches from the platform to the ground without falling over or getting tangled up in the bike, one size just about fits all, no special shoes or shorts required, fast & easy loading on the platform rack, no impact to your joints with all muscle groups working together to perform the task, easy breathing in the upright position & great visibility and an excellent price point well below a good road or mountain bike & right in there with a quality hybrid/commuter bike. Performance on the road or bike trail is excellent with greater stability than a conventional bike, comfortable cruising speeds slightly above the average hybrid bike with top speeds around 28 mph. and fun down hills & around turns you will not experience on a regular bike. Hill climbing ability with the 8R is excellent and the drum brakes are very efficient. As far as off-road performance I find the ride on hard pack TSA (Trail Surface Aggregate), i.e. Rail Trails, very good. What ever increase in rolling resistance from the loose surface is more than made up for by the lowered friction of tire scrub from the front wheels on TSA. There is more bump steer than a conventional bicycle, but the intuitive nature of the steering more than makes up for it once you get accustomed to it. Remember, it is a “street” strider, not a “mountain” strider, so you won’t be doing any technical single track or crazy down hill blasts on the ski slopes in the summer with it! It will physically challenge you like almost nothing else, but if you have the fortitude to stick with it through the first 4-6 weeks it will also reward you like nothing else. After the first two months I went from 210 lb. to 185 lb. doing 5 miles a day without altering my diet. I’ll weigh myself once a month to see where it takes me. I know by the way my cloths fit that I’ve continued to loose weight through the third month. My goal is to maintain 170-175 lb. How to you put a price tag on good health? The Street Strider is time & money well spent.
Here in the wine country of Northern CA the terrain is friendly to my Street Strider so I get out on it at least three times per week. It is GREAT!! As a burned out old runner with arthritic knees and hips, the Strider gives me a good aerobic workout without beating up my joints. I LOVE it!
Review in response to StreetStrider email...
I just got an email from StreetStrider asking me to review my Summit, now that I've had it for about a month. I typed out what I considered to be a fairly concise review, touching on much of what I've learned about the Summit, but not being overly wordy - for me.
When I tried to send in the review on the web form provided, I was informed that the text box would only accept 500 characters. I'm not sure how long my review is, and I wasn't going to try to figure out how to cut it down, so I thought I'd post it here and you guys at SSI can do with it what you will. So here it is:
I love my Summit 8r. I have only made a few short trips so far - nothing over about 10 miles - but I have enjoyed every minute of learning how to use this excellent piece of equipment, and the exercise is outstanding.
I have a really bad knee (so bad that I can't even ride a bicycle, I can't bend it far enough to make the pedal circuit), and my back is pretty iffy. Over the years I've had to give up almost all the forms of exercise that I've really enjoyed, starting with running, then biking, skating, etc. The Summit is perfect exercise for me, since I stand to do it, it is totally non-impact, and it really works the whole body. I need that, because I'm not someone who has the patience to do several machines in a gym just to get a workout. And it's wonderful to be outside, enjoying the great central Texas weather and scenery.
I've been driving my truck the 4 miles into town every day to get the mail and do a little shopping, and I plan to replace all that with my Summit. I estimate that I'll save about half the price of the machine in a year of doing that, what with gasoline prices rising as they have been.
The workmanship and quality of the Summit are very good to excellent. The assembly went smoothly after watching the videos that StreetStrider has provided for that purpose. There was one small hitch in the assembly, but the inventor himself answered my question in a very short time, and I was able to complete the work in a timely fashion.
I would not hesitate to recommend the StreetStrider to anyone who wants a full-body workout of the highest quality, outside in the fresh air instead of inside a stuffy, smelly gym. Commuting on a StreetStrider is not for everyone, but for certain people in the right circumstances, it is an excellent commuting vehicle.
Get one and enjoy yourself!
The first hard workout I've ever looked forward to
Like a lot of others, I was seeking an alternative to running and biking, both of which I do. I get a good satisfaction from running, but my knees and back suffer over time; and biking solves those but doesn't give me a good enough workout. This solves both - great workout (and FUN!); and burns but doesn't tear you up! I've had a ball with my rides that average 6 to 12 miles 3 times a week. Get one! Excellent customer service too.
Mrs.
I purchased the StreetStrider for my husband for Father's Day. After all of the kids rode it around, I decided to take it for a quick three miles. WOW! Love this! So much fun and yet such a GREAT workout. My husband has not ridden it much, but he is in rehab for shoulder surgery right now. Anyway, I find myself a wee bit addicted to riding it every day. It is my 40 minutes or more workout and it really is an overall body workout! MUCH FUN TOO!! THANKS!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the StreetStrider.
I feel like I am free when I am riding it!! Love the fact that I can be outside and still get the workout of an eliptical. I did get the indoor package because I live in North Dakota and it was easy to assemble and is sturdy but I hope to be more outside with the Strider...I did not receive the mat that goes with the indoor package though but have not contacted customer service as of yet. Definitely encourage anyone thinking of buying one to give it a shot!!!
EXTREMELY PLEASED
I am extremely pleased with my decision to purchase a StreetStrider (Summit 8r). Not only was delivery timely, but the assembly was fairly simple.
I am enjoying my StreetStrider even in the South Texas heat and no matter where I am riding I continue to get positive comments.
Owner
I love the StreetStrider, it is very easy to ride and gives you a good work out in a short period of time.
My StreetStrider
I love my StreetStrider! My husband put both mine and my sister's together. We have ridden them almost every day since we got them. It is a great cardo workout while strengthening both your legs and arms. I have absolutely no regret purchasing this item. Thanks StreetStrider for creating such a fun way to exersice!
Review Summit 8r
In all O.K.
Review
I have had my StreetStrider for approximately 3 weeks now and absolutely love it. The area I live in has several hills, it is not easy riding up some of them, but I am getting better at shifting gears and climbing. Traversing down hill is a blast! Don't get me wrong, you get a great workout whether going up, down, or on level ground, but you actually have fun while doing it. Plus, I am getting in great shape! How good is that?
Great machine, great fun
Awesome!! I thought after the first week I had made a mistake, that I was too fat and out of shape to ride it. Now after a month I am very accustomed to it, I can take long trips, it is a fun thing to ride and way better exercise than a bike or stationary elliptical!
Best of all no one has one in this town except me, I am just narcissistic enough to crave all of the stares and everyone asking where I got it!!
Summit Solar Yellow
I love my StreetStrider, and I use it atleast 6 days a week.... It gives me a great workout and it is fun....
Streetstrider
I've had my StreetStrider for about one month and I must say I love it! Although I am in terrible physical shape and can only ride for about five minutes at a time without a break, the time that I'm on it is loads of fun! I expect I'll build up endurance as I continue riding. It was fairly easy to assemble and is very sturdy and well made. Everywhere I ride, I hear "I like your bike" from the kids. Bottom line, this is a fun way to get some exercise!
OMG!
We’ve had our StreetStrider 8r for 4 days. We LOVE them for the extreme workout! We also hate them for the extreme workout! My husband put 2 together in 90 minutes. Once assembled, we set out to get the daylights beat out of us, it was GREAT! The first hour breaking them in we met more people than we ever had in the 3+ years living in the neighborhood! A GREAT way to meet new friends! We recommend StreetStriders to anyone wanting effective workouts. A quality product with a specific purpose. Money well spent!

I received the missing bolt about a week after the Strider. The assembly was pretty easy and the online videos were very helpful.
I felt a little wobbly the first time on the machine but got used to it very quickly. Each successive time on it I feel more secure. Riding now seems natural and is a blast. Other who have tried it, LOVE it. Very well made machine.
I feel the effects of the increased activity are well worth the money.
Summit 8r
I love my StreetStrider. This is the first piece of workout equipment that my husband and I wanted to use.
Mrs. G
First time my husband was on the SS he took a turn and went a little into the brush off the street. He ended up with a flat front tire. SS was kind enough to send a spare so we were back on the road in no time.
Incredible Cardiovascular Workout
The StreetStrider is lots of fun and the cardiovascular workout is incredible.
Summit 8r
I am pleased with the Summit itself. I am not happy that one of the front tires was defective and I had to replace it and the tube after only using the bike about 5 times.
Awesome Bike
I recently purchased the Summit 8r bike and I love it. Not only do I love the attention, I love the workout. I really feel the full body workout everytime I ride around town. I sleep so well at night!! My core strength and overall body strength has increased. I do a lot of power lifting but have never felt this great of a workout in just 30 minutes a day. I would suggest the purchase, and I do, to all of my friends.
how I like the street strider bike
I needed something to do while I worked from home and sat in front of my computer all day. I knew I was not going to walk outside as I have a lot of meetings that needed to be inside to take. I was looking for an exercise bike for inside but did not want one you sat down on due to my knee issues. When I saw this it seemed to be the way to go.
Entrepreneur
I was very lucky to have Wheel Happy in EDGARTOWN set it up. They could not have been nicer.
Damaged knee ended 40 yrs of running.
Found 8r and one word AWSOME. Live at 6000' with hills, excellent aerobic and anaerobic benefit. Will be buying the rack so it can go with me.
Work in Healthcare
I love my StreetStrider. It's great! The whole ordering experience went very very smooth and easy. I had some questions after I ordered, and was pleasantly surprised that someone answered the phone and was able to pull up my order and help me. I am also SO glad that I had my StreetStrider shipped to my local bike store. That worked out great... well worth the money! Thank you again!

Wow ! ! ! I love it, and so does everyone who sees it. This is my best exercise purchase since my treadmill. StreeStrider gives me a full body workout that is shock free for my knees & feet. Being outdoors where I love to be while having big fun is an added bonus ! !
Still waiting to try it.
When the box arrived the Fed Ex driver pulled the box out of the back of his truck and dropped it out the back. Anyway, I have had to take the bike to a local bike shop to have them realign it. I tried unsuccessfully to get the front tires to line up. Anyway, I'm still quite jazzed and can't wait till I get to try it out and get going!
Looks Great!!!
Hard work out, slowly working up my time on my bikes
I LOVE IT!!
I absolutely LOVE it! It gets muscles of mine that I have not been able to touch with running or weight exercises. It is also so much fun to ride around. I get A LOT of looks and comments. One 14 year old boy even said "that was the coolest thing ever!" I got the white glove service. It was highly worth it. If you are considering getting one, think no further...you will NOT regret it!
We have been on the bikes several times, and they are everything and more than they are advertised to be. They will give you a great arobic workout, are fun to lean into turns, and have an excellent transmission for the changing terrain. My wife and I are really enjoying exercising on our new StreetStriders.
StreetStrider 8r
My 8R arrived with the reflector on the front right wheel broken. A couple days later I noticed a bubble on the same right tire. I haven't run over any curves or hit anything with it. Believe it was damaged in shipping. I am afraid I will have to take it to a bike shop for repair.
As far as the operation of the 8R, I use it everyday and get a great workout.
Owner
I am disappointed in the Street Team follow up. It took a month to get my cards, and I am still not on the web site as a member in the area.
The machine itself is excellent. The only area for improvement I see is the lacing of the wheels.
Absolutely love it!!!
I absolutely love the StreetStrider. It was easy to assemble and is fun to ride. I am getting a great workout every time I take it for a spin. My family and neighbors are enjoying it too! Everyone wants to try it. The shipping was fast and the service was great.
I love my Streetstrider!
I love my StreetStrider. I am the talk of the neighborhood in our Brambleton community in Ashburn VA... everyone asks where I got it and send them right to your site. It's a great work-out and I love my Summit 8r. Thank you.
Dr
I have only had mine for 2 days. The first day I went 5 miles, today I went 15 miles. I love it! I am making plans to buy a second one to leave at my summer house. These are great fun and I am 67 years old.
Workout
Assembly was not a difficult task and I had the StreetStrider assembled in no time at all. I tried out my new StreetStrider and immediately had two neighbors come out to see what I was doing. After laughing at me for initially being so uncoordinated, they began to ask questions and ask if they could try it. It really works as an exercise device as well as a conversation starter! My legs, back, and arms could feel the effects the following day. Get one and get moving!
I LOVE IT
I just wish it was more affordable so everyone that wanted one could get one but it sure is a nice ride and a good workout.
Self
This machine is awesome..I do however have one complaint...the thing that changes the gears from 1 to 8 I think is in the wrong spot. When I ride this machine both my husband and I it seems to shift gears by accidently hitting the gear thing...anyway this machine is one of a kind and really gives you a great workout...thanks
My Streetstrider
My StreetStrider was delivered to Knickerbiker for assembly. I picked it up and readjusted the handles to my needs. I had to practice for a couple of days and away I go. I've been having a lot of fun. Knickerbiker did a great job on the assembly. My StreetStrider is everything the commercial said it would be. I can't wait until the weather warms up so I can use it on the River's Edge Trail. [I added the italics to this excellent statement - jed]
There is nothing else like it
I've only had it a few weeks, but I love it. There is nothing else like it. At first, it's hard and I wanted to give up...couldn't do the hill near my house...couldn't do the hill and around the block...every single time gets easier, which tells me I am improving, and getting stronger.
It definitely draws attention from everyone also...kind of fun getting funny looks and everyone asks you to stop and see it. :)
We Love It!
The StreetStrider is a blast! I recommend the one with more gears because on the flat it is easier when you gear up. I bought this for my husband and he loves it. It is easy to ride after just a few minutes. I paid to get it assembled and the local bike shop did a great job. The whole process was very simple. Love it, love it, love it!
Summit 8r
It took 4 hours and some frustration to put this thing together...but I actually did get it done which I guess is good for someone who doesn't know much about bikes. The more I ride it the more I love it...awesome workout and fun.
Mr
The Street Strider is AWESOME! Loads of fun and very effective. I have noticed great improvments in my strength and aerobic capacity in just three weeks of use. When I started, my 20 min rides were in 4th gear now I stride in 6th gear. I highly recommend this product to anyone wanting to burn calories and get in shape!
Fun and good workout!
Good workout, low impact and easy to learn. Hills are very difficult even with 8 speed. Off-roading is not an option. Maybe gravel but basically the smoother the better. Be sure to true the wheels. I assumed they were factory trued and burned up a tire after 4 times out. On the trainer, it isn't as smooth as an eliptical so the steps are a bit more lurching like a cross between eliptical and stepper.
Still a 5 star because it is fun, well onstructed and a good workout.
Don't know why I waited so long
I received my StreetStrider 2 days after I ordered it. I opted to put it together myself and it went together without difficulty. I look forward to being outside more in the future. Customer service is great, they do not hesitate to answer questions and they are always respectful. Keep up the good work. :~)
Ms.
I absolutely love my new StreetStrider! I decided to assemble it myself, quite an accomplishment for a hairdresser, and with the online support I had no problems. Now I am out of the gym and on the streets with the wind blowing through my hair! I look forward to riding it and love that I am outside in the California sunshine everyday!

Wish I had known about the 20% off for Feb, I would have waited one more day
Summit 8r Solar Yellow
Very happy with my StreetStrider.
Having fun learning to ride it.
Thank you much.
review
I love it. I have not been on it in a couple of days so I can tell it. It makes me feels much better. I have noticed that I get up in the morning easier. It is a whole new world with my SS. I can't wait until I can really get out and show it off.
I'm a runner...I found the perfect machine.
I bought the StreetStrider without really knowing what I was getting. I am a runner with a bad knee and knee replacement is in my future. I needed something to give me a good workout and I found the perfect machine. I love it!
Only negative-does not fold easy for transport.
TexasStrider
I absolutely love this bike. My only concern is the gear casing. The bike arrived with a broken gear casing. StreetStrider did not call me back despite having left 3 messages. I finally connected one day and was told that it was turned over to the bike shop.
Way better workout than my indoor elliptical
My stationary elliptical has steep incline settings and decent resistance but there's no comparison between the indoor elliptical machine and my new StreetStrider. Climbing hills on the StreetStrider is a way better workout! Best cariovascular exercise I've ever had in fact. Best part is you get to ride down the hill after you climb it and it's a blast...
This Thing Works!
I don't normally comment on products but in this case I felt I must. THIS THING ACTUALLY WORKS!
I'm losing weight and feeling strong. Had no idea this thing works so many muscle groups at once. I just lost 10 lbs in my first month and I'm hoping to lose 10 more in the next few weeks!
This thing will make you want to quit the gym! Really!!
BYE BYE GYM CARD!
I got my StreetStrider about 6 weeks ago and I'm proud to say that I've now cancelled my $40 per month gym membership thanks to StreetStrider. I was never happy at the gym because it was too crowded and I found it hard to stay motivated. SInce I started using the StreetStrider I've not gotten bored once! Now I can use the elliptical anytime and I truly think it's a better workout than the indoor machines! Thanks for making such a great product, I now get to wear my skinny jeans again! (:
"One of the best things that's happened in my life"
This bike is the best. I had surgery on both shoulders for torn ligaments and it's working better therapeutic wise on my shoulders than 2 of the
therapy clinics I've gone to.
Customer service is great!
Several people have already stopped me and asked where I got the bike from and I've referred them to the internet.
SOLID UNIT!
DONT FOOL YOURSELF.... RIDE A STREETRIDER TO GET INTO SHAPE! AND, THE RIDE IS FUN AND REWARDING.
I love it!
This is the best workout machine I have ever used. It is so fun that you forget that you are exercising. Then you feel it after! It works too. I have been losing weight and I feel better in just 3 weeks of riding my Strider. I recommend this to anyone that wants to exercise and have fun at the same time.

The bike arrived in perfect condition, however we were missing some nuts and bolts to attach the carrier on the back. One call to the company and they were sent to us.
Streetstrider Owners
This is the best exercise ever!! Feels like running, skiing & biking without the impact, cold or painful seat! We go uphill and fly downhill like we are skiing. Works arms, legs, core and back all at the same time. Anyone can do it.. heavy, skinny fit or not. Learning curve about an hour then you're hooked! Heart rate goes right up but never "feels" like a burning workout! So glad we discovered these.

The StreetStrider is a "Fantastic" machine that provides a great Cardio workout when limited on time. In just a couple of weeks, I have worked up to over 10 miles on a local bike trail. These workouts have also helped to improve my time and distance on the bike. The 8 speed unit is well worth the investment.
I gave up the gym for this....
I love that I gave up the gym for the StreetStrider. I feel like I get a complete body workout every time I get on it. I am sweaty from head to toe when I'm done riding. I am shrinking in all directions...I can feel my triceps and legs working/burning when I am chugging up the hills...it's amazing...I'm trying to get everyone I know on a StreetStrider! I was a little shaky at first, but now...I feel like I could show anyone how to use the StreetStrider. GET ONE! You won't regret it!
LOVE IT!!!
The quality is outstanding!!! The workmanship (welds, fit, etc.) was incredible. It was great to see the care that went into its manufacture. My initial ride was a little shaky but after a few adjustments and a couple of longer rides, I had it down. I routinely take it out for rides of 20 miles or more. As a fitness professional, I highly recommend it for everyone.
Get one soon and enjoy your workouts again.

This is the best "gizmo" that I have. I've had it for ~ 1 month: 56 yrs old with knee that can't run and recovering from severe shoulder fracture with surgery and neck surgery.
I can do this one! It doesn't hurt any of my joints, it is a great work out and it is so much fun I find myself smiling the whole time. You do feel like you're "running on air."
I LOVE this thing and would be willing to tell anyone that wants to inquire.
Lots of Fun!
My Summit 8R package arrived as promised within 3 days. First ride was reminiscent of my first 2 motorcycle ride but within 5 minutes I was gliding around my parking lot. The motion is smooth and somewhat addictive and I'm hooked. The in/outdoor pkg gives me such flexibility that I have no excuses to not ride every day. The road machine is very EASY to use, I can have it on/off the unit in seconds. I love my Strider and am a happy and, in time, healthier customer.
Lots of fun so far!
Great piece of equipment. The bike shop owner said that higher quality components were used which was reassuring.
It really is a great workout. Looking forward to building up my endurance over time.
Service from StreetStrider was really good. They called when they had difficulty locating a bike shop in my area to let me know that they were working on it.
Got the notification soon after and it was delivered to one of the better bike shops in the area.
Excellent built and lots of fun.
Only issue is that a video with more explanation on how to use the Strider would be excellent, especially on where to locate the feet. Too much upfront gives excellent steering but low power, the contrary happens when stepping too much towards the back. Would be even better if both would happen at the same time, power and control.
Good and expensive
The machine was supposed to be put together by a local bike shop for free but they wanted to hold it until Street Strider paid them. I assembled it myself. The front was out of alignment. It was easily adjusted, not sure if it is aligned properly. In two locations the metal was removed and not repainted leaving bare metal. It requires a lot of simple adjustments. If one wants good fun, outdoor, exercise this is a high priced, high quality, machine for that.
Consumer
Same as many of the new striders, the machine offers one of the best all around workouts ever. I have been exercising for many years, bicycling, trikking, weight training. I am still getting acclimated but already can see a major difference in other activities such as my weight training routines, in addition to my lower blood sugar levels. I cannot think of a better tool to use for conditioning and I have checked out most, the StreetStrider IMO is the ultimate workout.
Better Than I Anticipated
Ok, I know there are skeptics out there, just like I was. I am totally convinced that this is one of the best work out products on the market. The assembly was easy using the 4 online youtube videos. If I had it to do all over again, I would have purchased the 3r vs the 8r (saving $400.00) because I live in very flat Florida. The quality is fantastic, all Shimano equipment for the brakes, hubs and gears.
Etx Summit 8r
I love my new bike!!! It is really fun to ride. When the weather gets better I will be able to ride it more often outside, but I also purchased the stand, so I can use it as an elliptical indoors when it is not nice outdoors.
Ridiculously Fun
The very first day I took delivery of my Strider, I was immediately consumed by the riding process and uniqueness. I clicked the gears to the highest setting and began a 30 minute journey around my neighborhood. I can't tell you how many people came over to the edge of their lawn to get a closer look. What a great machine and I hope my whole neighborhood jumps on board to experience this awsome machine. Thank you StreetStrider for bringing 'fun' back...
Great Quality
The only problem I have had is that the StreetStrider is probably one of the toughest workouts ever. Going up hills is much harder than simply running. In other words it does what it is intended to do and that is to kick my butt during my workout. Great quality.
if you can walk - you can stride!
Great product, had it assembled at our local bike shop - shout out to Stedman's Bike Shop! I am 55 and was striding in 5 minutes. I work out pretty regularly, and by far this is the best, fun workout. With my Strider I am outdoors, having fun and working hard! Beginners to experts - if you can walk - you can stride!
Very well made!
I love my StreetStrider. I had some problems with the assembly, but was able to work it through with the help of a local bike shop, so no worries. The bike is very stable, and nicely constructed. I get a good workout using it up and down the block!
Can't Wait Till the Days Get Longer
...so I can get up to speed on my Strider. I've had it for nearly a month, and am now up to riding it for 20 minutes at a time. Every minute takes way more energy than anything else my "senior" body is up to, AND every time I stride, I go way farther than the time before. This is going to be SO MUCH FUN!
Love it!
I absolutely love this machine. It is strong and very well built. I start to feel the burn after only 10 minutes. I think I am the only person in OKC that has one and I get alot of looks and positive comments. My only complaint so far is the pedals, I am flat footed and after 10 minutes the insides of my feet start to cramp up. Other than that I love it!
Doesn't jar the joints
I'm an avid swimmer, but when the weather gets cool I have been looking for something that will not jar my joints. I love my StreetStrider! It gives me a whole body work out and is so much fun! It was my 34th wedding anniversary gift and I am so grateful to my dear husband.
What a workout
Got my new ETX 8r as a birthday present last week. I'm so glad my wife got me this color, it's just fantastic looking! Would recommend this to anyone who's looking to get in shape. I've never experienced a workout like this, it's intense but fun at the same time.
Great Product! May get one for my wife for her birthday so we can ride together.
Built it myself
It took me about an hour to put together in my garage with the toolkit that comes with it. I can honestly say that I was afraid I might not assemble this correctly but found the instructions to be self explanatory.
The only downside is that it doesn't come with a bike pump which I had to purchase at Walmart. I should have just bought one off the website and saved myself a trip.
Other than that it comes with everything you need and if I can assemble it, anyone can!
